Turmeric is a traditional Indian culinary spice and Ayurvedic medicine that has been utilized for a wide array of medicinal purposes. Its traditional uses have been for the Digestive System, Respiratory Tract, Disorders of the Skin, and Joints.
Turmeric is rich in Curcumin, the primary component of Turmeric which also gives it its Yellow Color. The Curcuminoid compounds tend to be attributed for its common uses, such as; arthritis, digestive disorders, respiratory infections, allergies, liver disease, depression, inflammation/pain, joint health, heart health, cognitive function and other uses.
In the last decade, turmeric has received more focused attention from the western scientific community and clinical studies have confirmed its health-promoting effects.
