Beta glucan is naturally found in a variety of superfoods such as oats, seaweed and medicinal mushrooms. Once ingested, beta glucan is transported from the gastrointestinal tract to immune organs (such as tonsils and lymph nodes) throughout the body.
Once in the immune organs, beta glucan is broken down into smaller fragments and released over a number of days where they then bind to neutrophils, the body's most abundant immune cells.
